Free Lab to GOOD Home

I am so sad to say that I'm going to have to give up my Chocolate Lab, Bo. He is not getting along with my other male dog (I think they are competing for the top dog position). He is 3 years old and Baxter is almost 9. I think Baxter is just old and set in his ways and does not appreciate the energy that Bo has. Bo loves to play but is a little hyper when you first go outside with him. Eventually, he calms down and is a good dog. I believe he would be a much calmer dog if he could live inside with a family and be around people all the time. He lived inside with us for about a year until Riley started having a hard time with his allergies and we had to put him outside. He is AKC registered and has the prettiest green eyes. I'm going to be extremely sad to see him go but, I'm just scared that one of them is going to be seriously hurt if I don't separate them. If you know of anybody that may like him and take really good care of him, please let me know.

A New Addition to the Edwards Clan

NO, I'M NOT PREGNANT but, Kimmy is! Maybe I should say there's going to be a new addition to the Mitcham Clan. Anyway, we're expecting this little one around September 28th. The boys are excited about having a new little cousin and we can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl. I guess there will be no more forking her yard - I would hate to make the pregnant lady work too hard cleaning it up! And by the way, whoever forked it again last week... Thanks a lot. We got blamed for it.

Firsts

As a mother, I'll always remember my babies' firsts. Their first steps, their first words, their first day of school and the list goes on and on. This past weekend, I was so proud to witness their first forking. Yes, Brad had the idea to let them fork their Aunt Kimmy's yard while she was away for the weekend. So, we went to the store and purchased 400 plastic forks and off to Kimmy & Louie's house we went. They worked so hard pushing all those forks in the ground (laughing the whole time) and were so proud of their finished project! They had a ball. We are for sure going for the "parents of the year" award! Anyway, I realize that I have totally let the cat out of the bag and according to Kimmy, Louie was pretty upset when he saw the yard so, I'm going to add this: These are just two innocent little boys having a good time with NO retaliation deserved! And don't tell them that I told - this is the first time they have actually tried to keep a secret!

SNOW...finally

It's been a while but we finally got a little snow. Not what I would consider a "good" snow but enough for the kids to sled and make a few snowballs. My kids have never seen the kind of snow fall like we use to have when I was a kid so, I would love for them to experience a measurable amount of snow at some point! Regardless, they still enjoyed it and couldn't wait to go outside. Riley even woke up at 2 am and looked out the window. At that point, we barely had a dusting and he was VERY upset and crying when he went back to bed. He was pleasantly surprised to find the ground covered when he woke up again. We had a few other kids at our house today so they all had a ball playing around with each other. Hopefully, we'll get some more use out of those snow boots before the winter is over!

FIRE

It was an eventful weekend for us and Brad's family. Pat & Ken's (Brad's mom & stepdad) house burnt on Sunday afternoon. The house is still standing but pretty much gutted on the inside. It started as a grease fire in the kitchen but spread quickly to other rooms. What didn't burn up, pretty much melted or has severe smoke and water damage. Pat made it out fine and Ken wasn't at home so we're thankful for that. Just please remember them in your prayers as they sort through the ashes and rebuild.

These are some EXCITED kids!

Whew! We've had a wonderful yet busy week with parties at Riley's preschool and Dawson's school. After Dawson's party today, we had a visit from Santa! He visited the kids at Pat's daycare and then she sent him to our house. I gathered my boys and the other kids that I keep after school and told them that I had a big surprise coming for them. I wish you could have seen their faces when Santa stepped into our house! I was excited for them! Santa sat on the couch and each one had a turn sitting on his lap. Santa handed out candy and was on his way in his limo. Yes, his limo. He explained that the reindeer are resting up for Christmas Eve so he had to find a different way to get around until then. Riley had told everybody that Santa came to his house in a "limbo"! They LOVED it and I loved it because now we don't have to go the mall and wait in line all day to see Santa.

Tonight we started a new tradition. The boys have some small gifts under the tree in their room and they are allowed to open one each night until Christmas. My mom used to do this with me when I was little so I decided to start it with my boys. They have been tortured for a couple of weeks looking at those presents with their names on them. When I told them that they could finally open one tonight, they just about broke their necks running up the stairs! They each got an AXE gift set with body spray, deo, shampoo, shower gel, etc. Yes, I know that my kids are only 4 and 6 but they love this stuff. They want to be grown so bad! One day they'll wish they could be kids again but for now, they think they are well on their way to manhood. They were so excited to get this stuff but we may be paying the price for quite a while - you can smell them a mile away!
